DESCRIPTION: FACT: Most college students don’t get stupid drunk. Most students make responsible choices. But for the ones that choose to drink, college drinking can be dangerous, destructive, and against the law. Students use alcohol to hookup, hangout, make friends, relax, and numb out. That’s where syndicated advice columnist and New York Times bestselling author Harlan Cohen steps in and explores “The Why: Behind College Drinking.” Harlan helps students see that drinking has less to do with fun and more to do about fear, insecurity, and the inability to take risks.
Harlan uses humor, live interactions with audience members (via text messaging during the event), facts, stats, questions & answers to help students see a fresh new perspective on alcohol use and abuse in college. Attendees will leave with alternative approaches to get what they want without having to get wasted to get it. Harlan delivers a step-by-step approach to taking risks that removes the need for liquid courage. Once students gain a deeper appreciation of the “why” behind college drinking, they will be better equipped to make stronger and healthier choices that last far beyond their college years.
